Irv Seaver, Orange, CA

For you Orange County folks, I was at the Irv Seaver dealership in Orange yesterday. As I was dismounting, the General Manager was walking by and stopped to talk with me. He offered a tour of their new construction and I took him up on it. They're making a significant increase in their space by adding onto the rear of the building. Add to that, they bought the two buildings across the street for storage and whatnot (they may rent out the front building). When they're done, the dealership will be poised to make some dramatic improvements across the board. The GM told me they made a conscious decision to decrease profits and sink money into capital improvements plus keep all their empoyees, in order to maintain one-day service for customers. He showed me the blueprints and explained their philosophy, and I gotta tell ya, I was impressed.

I went in to Irv Seaver's today for a service on my GT2. Lots of new faces there. The new service girl (new to me, anyway, she says she's been there nine months!) is named Harly! How ironic!

Anyway, it's always a pleasure for me to spend some time in there. Everyone is friendly and easy to talk to. I gabbed with the owner, Evan Bell, for a few minutes about the beautifully restored R60/2 sitting out in front... he said to feel free to pull out my checkbook and buy it, but I just don't have that kind of discretionary money to throw around, regardless of how much I might want it.

David, the General Manager, saw me standing around and bought me lunch at the local El Pollo... thanks David, if you read this.

I looked at the new Schuberth C3 Pro helmets and I want one with the communications package!

Nice people to talk to, but as little as I ride nowadays, it will be another year before I go back.
