Valentine One and Motolights install

Since you'll most likely never have to mess with the motolights, I didn't bother taking pics. However, the V1 install may interest you. For some time I've been wondering where to put the main unit. I have the Clutch fluid reservoic plate from Pirate but the location was not really working for me. In addition to being out of my HUD view, it was susceptible to rain. I wanted to put the remote V1 alert somewhere visible without looking too gaudy. Where, though, do I put the main unit?

My motolight install begged me to remove plastic. I love their product and customer service. The harness for the install was way to big and had to be trimmed in a few places. Heck, if I had some skill, I would have trimmed it a bunch more; yet I digress.

If you recall, removing the air intake tube for the Evolutionize air filter left just enough of the cone to provide a shelf of sorts for the V1. I put velcro pads on the tube itself and then tie wrapped the unit to the intake piece for safe keeping. I then ran the power wire across the innards to power.

I then mounted the remote display over the speedo which puts it in my line of sight when I'm into above the limit operation. I tapped into the accessory harness near the battery for power and was only able to get the red and white wire to work which gives me switched power plus twenty seconds.

I haven't put it to the road test yet but I'm thinking it will be useful on long, quick jaunts to far away places.

Hope the pics help,

Gravity

Thanks for posting. I'm obsessing over what to do about a detector so I'm curious about your install. I take it you plan on leaving the V1 as a semipermanent install? What are you going to do about weatherproofing? Mind giving an update about how well the remote mount is working as far as ability to alert you?

Weather is the main reason I located it above the vent. GRavity should draw any rain water down away from the unit. Is it permanent? Semi. Three screws to get the panel off, then cut the tie wrap. The base is also secured via velcro. So, I guess you could get it off in ten minutes or less.

I'll let you know about the notification. I may not be on the bike for a bit. When I do I'll report back.

Best,
