Poor fueling

Just wondering if anyone has experienced. I haven't ridden much, but went out to rail with my buddies. The bike was idling really rough and died often at idle. Most of the time when I pulled the clutch in it would kill the motor. I could smell tons of fuel in the exhaust.

I avg 15 miles per gallon and went through 2 1/2 tanks to go 225. In the past when riding I could get up to 225 a tank but typically 175-200.

No fuel leaks. I put the zero map on the pciii and it still runs the same. I have heard that a faulty O2 sensor can impact fueling and go to a default fueling to richer up the mixture, but this seems a bit extreme.

Missed this one. Have you found the answer, chuck?

A failed coil would do that. bike would run noticeably poorly, though thoughout rev range.

Maybe do that ecu reset. if it's the o2 sensor, that should fix it for a while and then it'll return.

Remember way back when, I replaced the crankshaft sensor on my 06 and my idle and pick up just off idle improved dramatically?

Your fuel consumption suggests something different. A fuel injector failed open perhaps?

If it were easy to pull the plugs, i'd suggest you do that and see which one was running excessively rich.

Or you could put a gloved hand on the exhaust and feel which one runs cooler.

check the fuel injector connectors. Maybe the PC3 failed. They are plugged inline with the fuel injectors!

Yes, that would be my guess. Remove the PC3. I bet that's your problem.

Took it in to the stealer ship and the diagnosis was the main computer. 1000 bucks. I also had the valve adjustment so it really didn't help the pocket book.
