New tyres (tires) for K1200R

Greetings. I've had an '07 K1200R for 9 months. It came with Metzeler Sportec M5 Interacts on it and they're getting very low after only 7,400Kms (4,600 miles). This bike is my commuter and day-tourer, often 2-up but not much luggage. The M5's are great but I need something that lasts a lot longer than that, hopefully without sacrificing too much performance. Does anyone have experience with the Z8 Interact? Any recommendations?

Thanks Dodgeem. Is there any reason you've gone with GT's? From what I've read I believe they are designed for heavier touring bikes as they have a heavier carcass. What sort of riding do you do? Do you corner hard?

Biggest reason is me! 6'7", 260 lbs, add that to a 500lb bike and GT's are in order.

Hi guys... I am new in here...

I would like to change my tires... Now they are like a "stone".

I had Metzeller M3 but I was not feel myself very comfortable on them... I had some skid problems..

What are your tire recommendations for my K1200R?

Have a nice day..

skid problems?! They might be dry rotted....not sure of the international term but I would replace them quickly. Do you see cracks on the side wall?

I have recently fitted Michelin Pilot Road 4s on my K1300S so far they are a good balance of performance and longevity.. Agree with previous comment on avoiding the GTs unless you need them - I have them on my other bike and they are harsh riding one up, but good two up/with luggage... Peter

Pilot road 3's and 4's are great. More traction than I should be allowed on the street, and they slide and recover very predictably. Also, they get almost double the mileage (at least for me), and handle the once a decade rain out in SoCal very well.
