K1200S air box

I'm wondering if anyone here has swapped out their K12R Sport airbox for the K12S version with 2 air filters? It looks like a straight swap, but I'm wondering if there is anything to be aware of when changing it?

Not riding a "R" but i've read about the conversion. The ZFE unit will be in the way of the second snorkel and (not 100%sure ) a cable or 2 needed to be rerouted. But it can be done if you are a bit techi.

I've heard that the snorkel is for noise rather than performance, that it has no effect on the running of the bike. Do you know any more about the need to reroute cables? I was hoping to deliver the bike to the shop for it's next valve check and have them drop in the K12S air box.

I think it does increase performance because the difference in the output figures between the R and the S is attributable to the extra air intake.

It's so nice to be insane No one asks you to explain

It should be a straight drop in without the snorkels. I don't think the shrowd that holds the plastic securing pin will interfere with the ZFE or wiring. The Evoluzione setup was lower profile, but doesn't interfere. If the stock shrowd is too big, you can always just trim it to fit.

Captain How'd you're right yet again 😁

nmK12 if you're getting an S air box make sure it's off a late k12s, 2007 on, because there were recalls on some earlier air boxes.
Otherwise the flat k12 filters make some mighty fine induction noise ... I agree with trimming the plastic down to fit but wonder how it would handle really wet weather 🤔
Didn't do it to my k12r and still thinking about it for the k13r ... but I'm too lazy🤣
