K1200 R sport fairing on a K1300R

Is it possible to install the half fairing and headlight unit from a K1200 R sport to a K1300R. I own a 2010 K1300R and used to own a 1200 R sport. Being taller i find the aftermarket screens not the best. I can obtain the fairing and headlight parts easily enough and it looks from the parts fiche that the mounting brackets for both bikes are the same. With the current climate i may have some time on my hands to experiment but wondered if it could be done fairly easily.

Many thanks

I’ve owned both, a K1200R and a K1200R Sport. As far as I recall, the major difference is in the headlights, which will encompass the fairing. Your best bet is to get the Sort shop manual, if available. To quote the lads on “Top Gear”, “How hard can it be? What could possibly go wrong?” Sounds like an interesting project. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply, I can buy all of the parts fairly cheaply including the headlight. Although a different looking unit the connectors on the back appear to be the same. The fairing bracket looks the same you just need the mounting unit for the headlight which fits to the fairing bracket. Ive took one side of my K1300 apart this morning and the main bits look as though will fit in the same way. The 1300R is a great bike but too much power for very little wind protection. Ive tried a couple of screens but being tall haven't found anything that gives the protection the half fairing did on my 1200 R sport I had. Started looking and thought how hard can it be, famous last words...….
