Hi,
Just jumping forums, got rid of my K12S, and bought a K12R, now I need some pointers on running in, I am sure there are some threads regarding this matter, but any further pointers would be welcome.
Do a Google search on motoman break in or check out mototuneusa.com. I used this "run them hard" technique on a 2007 R1200S and have no problems. Does not use any oil, plenty of power, no pinging.

I'm kinda the same way. Just enjoy it. Run it hard, run it easy. It really doesn't make much difference with modern engines.
What I understand is that in old engines, the piston rings were made of harder material than the iron sleeves and in order to get a good "seal" the rings needed to scrape the sleeves for a while.
These days, nikasil coating on cylinders and better honing machines make the sleeves harder than the rings so very little "seating" is done. Most of the breakin relates to bearings in the crank, cam and transmission issues.
heh.....Somehow I knew you were a "Brock fan" (especially w/the Mobil One )from reading your posts John. He's gotta good, reliable, common sense approach to engine performance. 2t
