Checked Brake pads , 11600 miles, almost to sensors, removed sensors and ordered EBC pads from powersportsuperstore. All seams well no lights on . any coments as to how far these pads will go before rotor damage. Thanks Mike

dealer changed my front plates at 20,000km inspection. even i don't do city riding there were almost done. one of them was finished at the corner starting to scratch the rotor, that's why they changed all. do they have sensors? normally which goes first, front or rear? if they have sensors, is this true both for the front and the rear?

One side of the rear brake pads has a special cutout to fit a wire loop sensor. As does one side of the front right pads. The left front pads have no sensor.

When the brake material wears down, this sensor contacts the rotor and eventually wears through, breaking the circuit and turning on the brake warning light. Hope fully before the pads have worn down to the metal backing plates and damaged the rotor.

Sometimes, this wire itself can break due to bad routing and too-tight zip ties at the factory. That should be a warranty fix. But wearing down to the point of damaging the rotor is usually not covered under warranty.

As for wear rates for the front and rear, that depends a lot on your riding style. The front pads do a lot more of the actual stopping, but there are two full sets of pads as opposed to the rear with one set. So the answer is, it depends. :)

Greetings to all my first time on the main forum.
You can also break the wire on the rear brake pads if your silly enough to leave a disc lock on the disc and try and roll the bike backwards until it touches the brakepad assembly, only a very slight touch maybe a quarter wheel turn at a real slow pace was enough to brake the wire, plenty of meat still left on the pads but new pads had to be installed unless you wanted to live with looking at the brake pad wear indicator light staring at you every time you went riding.
Lucky for me my dealer put it down as a faulty pad and replaced it as a warranty item with my 30k service. The cruise control also disconnected once the warning brake pad light lit up on the display panel, l think the two are linked but not certain.
Cheers Andrew
