Buck_K12RS I own a 2001 KRS and purchased a windsheild from beemer boneyard.from a 2001. When the windshield arrived it did not fit. It was the same as the one pictured here. After talking it over with beemer boneyard and reviewing their description said "Late Model" I was informed that there were two different windshields that year as those aweful turn signal pods were eliminated when the front fairing was redesigned mid-year.

Nice looking RS and welcome to the forum.

Yeah she's one heavy sucker, but I don't seem to notice the weight as the weight sits quite low... especially in comparison to my last 3 motorcycles: Suzuki SV1000, Kawi KLR650 and Triumph Tiger... all top heavy and awkward to move around!

How many KM on yours?

Jethro Strange things do happen. Mine came with an after market C-Bailey extra tall windscreen which I replaced with one from a GT. Much better air flow around my full face helmet.

O.K. now that is weird. It would appear that the 2002 US spec models were built as early as March 2001, but badged as "2002" model year. Maybe BMW wanted the US to use up the remainder of the early body style in 2001.

Mine is an April 2001 build date, and was given a 2001 model year designation!

Jethro;

I learned that Europe/Canada/S. Aftrica got the "new body work" RS's starting in 2001 -- cruise control was an option throughout the years. The US got the "new body work" RS's starting in 2002 -- cruise control was standard until 2004. You lucky guys.

Canada/Europe/S. Africa also got the last 2005 RS's, the US did not.

Since there was no change between the model years 2002-2004 (US) or 2001-2005 (Euro/Can), with the exception of colour choices and cruise control being standard or not, the owners manual printed in 2001 remains current.

It appears everyone got the standard white spring unless they "upgraded" to the sport rear shock (yellow spring), which was a bit stiffer than the standard unit.
