Big thumbs-up for my dealer

Took my GT in today to Mischlers HD-BMW in Beaver Dam WI, to have a couple recalls done (the brake line and the rear link).
I had been posting here about the chain jump guard, they installed that including the gasket and new bolts AND the new style chain tensioner, all on BMW's dime.
I also haven't had a service done since the "Initial Inspection" and so I asked, when they were doing the brake line, to just flush all the brake fluid (I know there are 2 levels of brake flush, one more major than the other, bike is now 4 yrs old, so figured it should all be changed), again, no charge.
I also mentioned to them that the engine has been cranking pretty slow, especially on colder mornings. They said they'd handle that too (new battery), since my bike sat on the showfloor for a year before I bought it.

Pretty good service, glad I have been a customer of theirs for almost 25 years.

Glad to hear they're taking good care of you, Gilly.

I have to say, a good dealer relationship is one of the most important accessories for a modern BMW.

As for the two-level brake flush, that only applies to the '06 GTs with the power-assist brakes.

The '07 and newer bikes just have a single front and single rear brake circuit, just like "normal" bikes. Unless there's already a problem there, the ABS pump doesn't make a whole lot of actual difference when flushing the brakes.

Thanks for clarifying, I must have been looking at a service sheet for an older GT, as you describe, and it stuck in my head.
Is there an online source for a service sheet for my bike?

Yeah on that thread for the jump guard, I did mention the dealer didn't seem interested in doing it. I emailed the part number for the part to them, and they almost seemed put-off by it. Then they investigated that part number and saw it is actually installed from the factory on the 1300 at some point and seemed more interested in doing it. So I guess mine was the first they did, I bet it won't be the last. They did have a GT in the shop last summer from out of state for a chain-jump, so they do know what can happen.

Dealer woes

Took the info regarding the new cam chain guard to my dealer, who claims he hasn't heard of any problems with the cam chain since the new tensioner came out and hadn't seen anything regarding the new part. Suggested I not worry about it since he hasn't heard anything official from BMW. Their point of view seems to be BMW is always righthttp://www.k-bikes.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=176309#

Tell them it is all over the net. They probably won't appreciate hearing that too much, but I finally just was up front with my dealer about it. I also came right out and said essentially, "if you don't want to do it, at least order the parts cuz I'M going to do it then".
