For you 2008, the fiche shows a smaller much different level indicator. See picture 1. Part #8
How to fix it...I would take the 2008 sensor out of the tank and inspect for something sticking.
My 2003 K!200GT has a long tube called a sending unit to read the fuel. It gets crushed or bent when the tank has a vacuum problem. See picture 2. The sensor has to slide up and down smoothly to read better.
Luckily, I haven't had the problem yet, but have seen a few videos on bent up tubes. I guess that is why it was revised in later years.
Mine is having the same problem lately showing full and is out of gas. I am looking to find a cheaper fix than going to the dealer. I have a 2008 K1200GT.
My penny worth. Four years ago, my K1300GT went into Motorad for a service and MOT. The fuel gauge said full when it went it. It was nearly empty when it came out. I pointed out the possibility someone had nicked it. How embarrassing it turned out to be the gauge getting stuck.
I have a 2006 k1200gt and there was a recall several years ago for fuel level issue. Recall is now closed, but was advised either replace sensor or simply use trip meter to track mileage, since sensor would likely fail again. Ive been monitoring mileage and seems ok work-around
