unless it blows up... Sounds like a cool idea; however, what happens if the tire blows up, get caught in the frame and while the wheel is still spinning it contacts the ground. Then the shredded tire rips the back of the bike off. IMHO...throw it (the used tire) away, put the new on on...and kiss your wife and daugher, then go for a nice ride to break in the new tire with an intact motorcycle. Cheers. |

Brian, Don't need to unlink the brakes: just put the front wheel against a wall or something similar, making sure the rear doesn't go sideways, and you'll be able to smoke the rear one completely to the threads. Rgds Luc |

Unlinking the brakes I know this may seem odd, but I would like to temporarily unlink the front and rear brakes. :wtf You see, I figure that I have about 1500 - 2k miles left on my rear Z6 and if current plans hold I will have those miles done in short order. Add that to my current mid-life crisis and you get Tire Smoking! In short, I want to be able to burn off the last bit of tread in dramatic fashion before I change tires. I figure smoking the rear tire while in my driveway is as good a way as any. Plus it is juvenile, obnoxious, and something my wife and daughter will roll their eyes at and my son will applaud. Any thoughts about how to accomplish this? Brian |
