GT RCU Shelf

Does anyone have any experience with the RCU shelf on a NextGen GT? I want to mount a Zumo, Valentine & Zumo XM antenna and I am concerned with adaquate clearance to the windshield. I had one on my RT that worked great but it looks like there is less clearance on the GT and I can't tell from the advertisement pic if it will work.

Big Mac

Sorry, I use a Big Mac shelf for my 2730 and Valentine 1. All the way down the shield hits my XM antennae a little which I mounted to the airfoil portion of the Big Mac. I tried to post a pic but this site isn't letting me.

I have the RCU installed. I chose it because 1) it was cheap, 2) the K1200LT version on my LT worked just fine, and 2) at the time I bought it for the GT I didn't know of alternatives.
The problem with the RCU shelf is that it vibrates like nothing else, which can cause things to come loose, and displays (of a GPS) may become unreadable do to the level of vibration.
I only saw the BigMac on photos here, but I think the main difference between the two is that the BigMac also has support in the front (to presumable prevent vibration). The RCU only comes with two 'rear legs' to mount the shelf on.
If you're the tinkering type, you might opt for the RCU and fabricate two front supporting legs, and save some $$$, or buy the BigMac.

Ok I see the difference. The RCU shelf on my RT has 4 legs which makes it an extremely strong and vibration free mount. Since I haven't seen the GT mount in person I can't really tell how that modification would have to be performed and I'd rather not have to fabricate a fix on a brand new product. That's great input that you gave me that I couldn't see from their ad. I guess I won't be getting that.

I have the Big Mak shelf with a Zumo 550 and Escort detector. The XM antenna is attached to the leading "edge" of the Big Mak. I ave a Ztechnic Vstream screen and no problems with the screen in the lowest position.

I also have the extra support strap (see just left of the speedo in the picture) which adds enough stability to support the Zumo without much vibration. Before I put the strap on the shaking was pretty bad. The wiring from the Zumo and radar are hidden in a tube behind the support strap - then routed through the battery compartment to the glove box where my Mix-It2 is located.
