Fort Bragg, left coast style ... with pics!

Posted the pictures from this years little Fort Bragg ride at my website: http://rhhall.smugmug.com/gallery/6155716_JtNfB

The first snow of the season greets me on my departure to Fort Bragg. I've got to get over Donner Pass, and it looks like its going to be messy. The ski runs at Heavenly Mountain are clearly visible as I look to the southwest from my driveway.

Lake Tahoe doesn't looks so picturesque today:

I catch the rain at Truckee and continue riding in the wet as I top Donner Pass. Riding at 80MPH, in the cold rain, on a busy I-80 is made all the more adventurous with road construction. Those familiar with the pass know how beat up the road is from the endless truck traffic. The weather clears as I arrive in Auburn. I ride in decent weather along Highway 20 until I approach Willits, where it starts raining again:

Just my luck. I've been looking forward to this stretch of Highway 20 for two years. The only other time I've ridden it was at 10pm at night. That wasn't much fun. Looks like I'm going to have to ride it at a conservative pace again, as its wet and trees are starting to shed their leaves. I pass a string of emergency vehicles, and soon discover a car that has crashed. Later I heard that a fifth-wheel was also involved.

After arriving at the hotel, I find that three other classic K-GTs are in attendance. One belongs to Razel, the other to FletchTech. I haven't seen Fletch in at least a year, so I'm very glad to see him and his wife are here. The K-GT's, being exclusive bikes, park together; two Orient Blues and two much faster Gray-Green Metallics:

Dave Taylor, the organizer of the ride, soon shows up and we trade photos:

The rest of the riders shows up groups of two's and three's. We convene at the North Coast Brewing company for dinner:

We proceed to eat, drink, and be merry. My friend celebrates the fact that he talked himself out of a ticket for passing on a DYL:

Billy Omaha. "It has nothing to do with Omaha." He looks like he's going to kick someone's ass.

The steak was excellent, the beer superb, but the dessert was harder than it looks:

The weather got really drunk that night. The next morning we meet for breakfast, where I'm informed I look like green eggs and ham. Fletchtech lives in my direction, so we plan our ride back together. Here the group gets ready to pull out of Fort Bragg:

I always crack-up at the fact that everyone thinks this is an army town. People don't realize that the army Fort Bragg is in North Carolina. We have a slow but pleasant ride on Highway 1 along the coast.

And through the trees:

We stop in Boonville at the Anderson Valley Brewing company. I'm not in the mood for more beer, even though the beer here is excellent.

We continue on Highway 128 through the wine country north of Napa. It's beautiful, and all I'm missing is a cute girl holding on to me as we cruise the the vineyards.

We stop for dinner in Sacramento, and I soon say goodbye as I continue east. The last hour is ridden in the dark, as I ride around the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe. All in all, a great weekend get away with great friends.
