Well after much searching and finally finding an 06' KS without ABS at BMW Santa Cruz I flew in from Texas and picked her up on 7/06/06. Rode her all the way home some 1,908 miles total. Arrived home on 7/09/06. Rump is still a little numb but the smile on my face has not left. Took highway 1 down to Big Sur River Inn the first night and the rest of highway 1 the next day south. I was amazed and how comfortable I remained. The seating position is darn near perfect for such a sporty bike. Here is a quick shot from that day. It was a great way to get to know a bike. This was the first time I have ever taken delivery like that and I highly recommend it.

Great ride

Glad you got to ride Hwy. 1 on your spankin' new KS.

I took delivery of my bike in Reno, NV and rode the Sierras home. It really gave me an appreciation of the bike, to take a long ride on it from the get go.

I think you have the best of both worlds with your KTM and your S.

On the GPS I could not get my hands on the center threaded RAM ball in time so I simply used my u-bolt bracket RAM setp. It fit between the clutch bracket and steering yoke cast piece with no problems. I have since ordered the RAM-B-236U to fit in the center of the steering head.

And yes the KTM 950 S really rounds out my package.

I have an KTM 525SX for dirt only and am thinking of adding a KTM 950 SM (Super Moto) for a city/dirt road machine to go with my K1200S street only machine. Or possibly a KTM 950 Super Enduro rather than the SM.

What do ya think?

If you go over and visit my other haunt at AdvRider.com there is a guy that got a 950 SM and then bought a second set of spoked wheels to run somewhat off road. Nothing real serious mind you. Here is the link. Nice set up if your looking to do simple fire roads and such.

If I were looking for something more in line with off roading I would wait on the Super Enduro. This is only if your looking to do some real technical off roading. My 950 S Adventure can do some pretty knarly stuff off road should you find yourself in a situation. But it is one fine multi purpose touring rig and can be a handfull in tight technical stuff off road simply because without the bags it weighs in at just under 500lbs. But I have seen Scott Harden ride the thing like it was your 525SX so as always it is rider dependent and what your willing to risk.
