Am I the only one having this problem: I cannot adjust mirrors sufficiently to see a clear enough rear-view without moving my head to either right of left. And while I always turn head for a last looksee, I find it annoying that there is not enough adjustment in mirror(s) to givea clear enough rear and adjacent/side sight picture without moving head/body.

The problem also exists on the KLT but is easily remedied with a pair of auxiliary KRS mirrors!

There is no problem on R12GS.

No remedy here. However, I gotta tell you, compared to my previously owned 02 998 Ducati IMO the KS provides outstanding viz. By design I assumed all the "sports" bikes have this inherent limitation. Some obbviously better than others. So far, I can live with it.

I am 6' 4" (roughly 14 stones - 196 lbs for those in the US - 89 kgs for everyone else) and to be honest the views I get in the KS mirrors are the best I have experienced on any motorcycle BMW or non-BMW.

I have found the adjustments easy to make, the mirrors are virtually vibration free and I have them set so I just see a bit of each elbow/arm.

Naturally I have a wee squint to the side to ensure there is nothing occupying the space I want to move into when I am about to overtake or change road position. Maybe I am just lucky, but from the first time I ever got on a KS I just felt that it had been built to fit me.

Sorry that some of you are not as happy with the set up as I am.

I attached the small round convex stick-on mirrors. They allow me to see if a vehicle is close or beside me (in my blind spot) with out turning my head. I also had these on my RS and have them on my Honda (ST1300). The trick is to discipline yourself in their use. You have to train yourself, and that does take some time. They seem to work for me on the S, although the S mirror surface on which to attach them is less than the other bikes mentioned.

I find that if the mirrors are not adjusted JUST RIGHT then they tend to point out to either side and I have to shift in the seat to see behind me. Like Rennie I end having to have my elbows blocking the inward-pointing 'tail' of the mirror - then the rest shows exactly the right bit of road.

Moral of the story - I get pretty creative while washing the bike not to bump a mirror and have to spend the next hour or so trying to find the right position again!! Once they're right, MAN are they ever sweet! My Mille didn't have mirrors, just silly pieces of mirror-glass which showed various patches of my riding gear ... On the upside I could say with a clean conscience: 'Honest officer, I never saw you following me for the last ten miles ...'

My left mirror is set so I can see cars in the left lane some distance back and next to me. The right mirror is set so I can see behind me. On the right mirror I have a small round convex mirror so I can see cars right next to me. I still turn my head left or right before I change lanes.

It's a pissant grumble on my part Ken and wasn't really meant to be. I am not tall (I realized recently that I am 5' 8" when younger days I was 5' 9" heh heh) and even stretching etc. I couldn't improve my sight line. It keeps me from ever getting lazy and taking mirrors for granted!

The gulfstream is about 60-70 miles off of Jacksonville most of the time. And, the seas even on a good day are normally never less than 3 feet. My son and I were pretty avid offshore fisherman and we had a fast fishing boat . . . cruised at 45-50 and would top out near 70. My son, who BTW is no kid as he's now 37 always had us racing to the stream beating the heck out me and I am sure that's where I lost the inch! I measured myself about a week ago, called him up, and gave him hell. Everytime we made the trip out to the gulfstream I would grumble that he's making me shorter . . . and I was right.

John, You are a funny guy! I also have my mirrors set like Ken's but do not yet have the additional stick on. I am an inch shorter than you and these mirrors are defenitely better than my previous RS's and GT. I love the swing away feature for tight parking situations.
