Hi has anyone got any ideas on this. Bike has been sitting for approx 5 years, Was moved from place to place approx 100 km and on arrival oil was hot more than normal and very black. Oil and filter were changed but not used since apart from a start up to circulate oil. However when been running the oil is very very slow to return to be visible on the sight glass, about half of what was on sight glass at start up is visible after 24 hours. Also when oil filler cap is off at idle motor wants to die, any ideas .

I don't think you have any real problems. The engine will not run correctly with the filler cap removed because you are introducing "false air" into the system. The oil level went down because the filter had to be filled. Ride the bike a while and recheck the oil level, on the centerstand in a level place. Check the coolant by lifting the tank and removing the radiator cap. The radiator caps are notorious for not letting the vacuum pull coolant back from the expansion tank to the radiator as the bike cools down resulting in low coolant level in the radiator. Take a good look at the "S" rubber hose on the left rear top of the bellhousing (highest point of the rear of the engine) to the airbox. If it is cracked it should be replaced. These bikes work better when ridden regularly.

is it poss for oil to by pass part of system. the oil pump appears is producing suction. Still puzzled and seeking answers

I told you to check the coolant because in your initial post, you commented that the oil was "more hot than normal". The early K's only had an overtemp light and you will never see it until it is overtemped- with the age of these machines, maybe it is not working.
How do you remove the oil filter without draining the entire sump? We are talking about an early K100, right?
Your oiling system should be working normally or within a few km's the engine would seize from lack of oil.
I can't explain your sightglass going dark when the oil is not dark. The sightglass glass should be perfectly clear when no oil is showing. Maybe you are seeing some sludge that deposited during the long lay up and will take several hot oil changes to clear.
