So to make a long story short somebody cut my exhaust off right behind the catalytic converter and in front of the o2 sensor. I daily ride this bike and it has 33k miles. Did all of the maintenance up to date. Since I've been riding it, obviously it's obnoxiously loud but it has developed a noise when giving it gas. Either valve train noise or something. It also backfires when I let off the throttle.

Any idea what this could be or a fix? Nobody aorund me works on motorcycle exhausts and this is my daily driver. Has been for 2 years

I think it would be to your advantage to fine a used stock exhaust system on Ebay and re install an O2 sensor. There are plenty of them but shipping is not cheap. The noise diagnosis would be easier. The backfiring will go away. Your neighbors will by you beer. The engine noise can be serious. Try to see if it is in tempo with the engine rpm's.
