Hello all. I have a K1200rs that needs a fuel filter replacement. I haven't done one before but I saw a video which shows replacing through the fuel filler and not pulling the tank. Is this possible because it looks like pulling from the bottom of the tank and removing the whole assy is a challenge. Thanks

Yes, it is a big job. But, not just the filter needs to be changed, at the age of your bike you need to change all the hoses in there and use proper clamps. The best clamps are the Oetiker crimp clamps that use a special tool to sqeeze tight. Look on the internet. The kits from Euromotoelectric have the hose and clamps with the filter if ordered. Call them for help as they are good. Lube the new gasket for the fuel pump assembly when going back together. A little bit of grease or oil. Send me your email and I'll send you the Service manual instructions on how to do this <[email protected]>. The file is too big to send to this forum. It has illustrations for all the plumbing and such. beech
There are fuel injection rated screw clamps but they have to be very snug, and not as good as the one time use Oetiker units.

I used screw clamps. Just a heads up. For the bottom clamps on the fuel pump mounting flange there is precious little room for the screw assembly on the clamp (on an 03 base plate anyway). Need to be careful there's nothing interfering when you slide the plate and big bottom gasket back in to place.

Hi. I have seen several vids/posts where they use screw clamps. Just hard to believe all that work for a fuel filter.. Thanks

Well they have to be fuel injection rated ones, not the normal stuff at the hardware store. Too much work involved to not use the crimp clamps. Especially if your in the middle of Southern Utah on a ride and worrying about it.
