This is NOT an advertisement! Yes, the Track Club will make some money (if they didn't they couldn't pay their bills and wouldn't do this a third time). However, this is a great way to introduce yourself to the track if you're a track virgin like I was last year at this time. I have now "done it" three times and had a mood altering experience each occasion! :p I encourage every bmw rider to "do it" at least once. All types of BMW bikes are represented--and last time almost half the riders had never been on a track!

The following was written by Mark Duncan, chief bottle washer and organizer extrodaniare at The Track Club:

Monday, April 3rd, 2006 @ Buttonwillow Raceway

I did a track day at Road Atlanta in my 300zxtt when I lived there. I would be suprised if there aren't motorcycle track days. If BMW doesn't put one on try other shops or contact Road Atlanta directly.

I'll probably not be able to make this one because of parenting scheule conflicts. Eventually the Ex will want something and then she'll be willing to trade.

I'm with Sportrider on this... While I think my K1200S is waaay too porky for a trackday.. I'd definitely show up if someone arranged an all BMW day at Barber or Atlanta... Damn!

I took the CLASS program on my k1200rs and had a ball. Towards the end of the day it turned into a track day with passing allowed every where except on the inside corners. While I don't profess to be a racer I can usually hold my own and that day I passed all in my group including several R1's but not the naked Triumph triple. The KRS has great speed and terrific (in it's day) brakes. I would not be afraid to take my R1100s or my soon to be delivered KS out. I have a cool video on Joe Meertens passing a bunch of rice burners on a R1100s.
