I have been searching around and found a lot of information but nothing that speaks to the codes my scanner is showing. So I heard you guys were the experts.

Long story short. 2005 K1200

1. Bike was fine when parked.
2. Battery got low so I put it on a crappy charger that may have over charged the system (over voltage).
3. Upon restart of bike the ABS motor runs non stop and brakes are on full assist when you try to use them, no ABS action just lock up.
4. Tried new battery, bleeding system, etc.
5. What I notice with the codes seems to be that the ABS unit is not responding and the other units all have "CAN timeout" errors. The tailight and brake switch errors seem to be false, I think related to not being able to talk to the CAN Bus? ANY help HIGHLY appreciated, I would rather fix this then buy the $2500 ABS unit.

Here are the codes present:

ABS / DSC / Brake:
ABS / ABS
ECU not present/no response from ECU

Instrument cluster:
Kombi-Instrument / Instrument cluster
:Taillight openload or short circuit to Ubatt / CAN Time Out ABS / ID failure ABS_1
Code: 009311
:Taillight cc to GND / Time Out - CAN / ID ABS_2 failure (speed message)
Code: 009312

Zentrale Fahrzeug Elektronik / Central vehicle electronics

Foot brake switch Short to earth
Code: 00A2ED
CAN Time Out ABS

If you do decide that removal of the ABS unit is the only option, see my ABS removal post on April 4th about the company that makes a nice "plug and play" replacement unit that will give all the proper functions (speedo, cruise, brake light, etc) but just normal brakes without the servo ABS. A lot cheaper than what BMW wants for a replacement servo ABS unit.

Thanks I noticed that post, wasn't sure if I could get that part here in the US. I really like the idea of ABS on a bike but something like that is better then full brakes all the time which is hard to ride with.

I'm considering pulling the ABS controller apart to see if I can see anything fried on the power input section but finding diagrams, pinouts, etc, seems to be impossible. Its scary how little info there is for this unit. IF someone were to crack the code and learn to fix these then they could make quite a few dollars.

Module Masters has tried for several years to come up with a way to rebuild our "Servo ABS" units, but apparently cannot find a reliable supply of parts to rebuild the small pumps in the ABS unit. They can rebuild just about any other BMW ABS unit but ours.
