Never used balaclava. Will a balaclava keep my face shield clear in cold weather? Don't need for warmth, just to keep my concept shield clear. Which one is best?

I must add son and I will be heading to NC and VA 2nd week of Nov for a week...
thanks

Check out this product, the Respro Foggy Mask. I don't have one, but several people have told me that they work. Click the pic.

Try a "Dickie"

No, this is not a bad joke. I live in Savannah, GA and commute to work. Some mornings get pretty cold so I have a dickie that I use from Patagonia. It's fleece and is essentially just a loose turtleneck type collar. When I close the vents on the helmet, I find my head stays plenty warm. The dickie gives the right amount of cold protection without becoming an annoyance. I usually have enough of a space below the chin bar of the helmet to keep it from fogging - as long as I don't cough. Then I'm in a white-out for a few seconds.

Uses

I've used a silkie, woolie, and polypro version of the head covering and chest reaching balaclava's.

None contribute to nor prevent shield fogging issues in any way. If I breathe through my nose, the shield tends to remain clear. When I exhale through my mouth, the shield fogs.

All head covers keep the noggin warmer and some keep the hair nicer.

fog city

I installed the fog city inserts on my schu and arai and they are the greatest, I could not ride far in the cold without fogging or frost forming on the shields now its virtually non-existent. I went with the photo reactive while it does not really darken enough for summer sun its fine for winter and clears enough for nightime without any problems, have a scarf I wear to keep the neck warm and slow updrafts, tried balaclava felt like a mummy.
