Hi everyone,

Just about to purchase one however the seat height is coming out at 820mm.
I'm quite short, and the biggest bikes I have had include Honda Blackbird and the Kawasaki ZX12R.

Can anyone advise if this is a bigger bike?

mbald,

The Seat height will be the least of your problems on a 16/17 year old bike.

The question you have posted suggests you have not ridden one and are polling members to compare a old Japanese Wet Sump to an old German dry sump; purely on your whim to maybe buy one?
Do yourself a favor, unless you have owned and understand BMW engineers and are ready to spend countless hours with shop. service and parts manuals.....

I'd strongly recommend you find another machine.

Happy Hunting

Sounds like I should get it!

Thanks
Hell yes get it if its in good running order.
Check some of foibles in the 1200 vs the later 1300.
Lots of articles on here.
Sadly due to expensive parts and service some bikes seem to get flogged to near death then dumped on unsuspecting buyers. So nitpick and lowball its a buyers market in winter during a period of economic turmoil.

Is it from a dealer or private purchase? How many miles? In any event if you can, give the VIN to a dealer and get them to check that the updates and recalls have been done - a good place to start. Careful buying is important here. A bad one will work out to be expensive while a good one will make you wonder why you didn’t get one sooner
