Blue Ridge Parkway Rally
Peaks of Otter Lodge, Blue Ridge Pkwy mp 86, Virginia
May 4th thru 7th, 2006 (Thur – Sun)

Call
Peaks of Otter Lodge for reservations.
1.540.586.1081 • 1.800.542.5927 • Fax 1.540.586.4420
Note: Specify one bed or two. !! Last year some found out that a few KING size beds are available. Some may have been secretly thrilled at this news. Rumor has it that Bubba and Chester had a restless night, however. How ‘bout them Cowboys?. :)

Blue Ridge Parkway info and maps can be found
here and here

Don’t know what BRPR is? It is us. All of these IDs and passwords transformed into real people, riding and laughing for three days. Rain or shine. If you don’t have a good time,.sell the bike.

Alternate Lodging (info only) :
Super 8 – Bedford
Days Inn – Bedford

See you in April. After the
pre-THCR and THCR, of course.

It's called DGR then. :) See this post for all 'k-bikes" events for 2006. (There is also be a June event in Vermont called SSR that will be added soon.)

Mike and I will be going to Ashville, NC for another rally - same days; is Peaks of Otter too far from Ashville that we wouldn't be able to catch a little of both events? Would be great to meet some folks from this board and the other board I go on all on one trip! Planning on the SSR too, will be watching for the dates.

Asheville is roughly Parkway milepost 386ish. Peaks is 86, so 300 miles of Parkway is a long day up and back. Most of the BRPR attendees go play in beautiful (and empty) West Virginia, but you might find some that want to ride south and meet at Fancy Gap or Tuggles Gap for lunch.

What rally in Asheville?

Naaa..that's on the southern end(NC)..Peaks of Otter is on the northern end(Va)..about 500 miles diff..
It's not the miles, it's the time that causes the problems. :) If you can find a motel that won't mind individual bookings, set it up and throw up a seperate post. That's how all these other Rallies started. I can't do another September Rally due to work commitments
, but anyone else can.

Tim,

The other rally referred to is Mayhem V, May 4-7, 2006 - information as made available can be seen at BMWsporttouring.com under Ride/Event Planning.

If 300 miles is all, we can do a day or two at BRP Rally and then go for a day or two for Mayhem. Traveling through West Virginia sounds wonderful, Mike has been wanting to check out this area and Ashville for some time now.

What's the weather in this area like in May?

Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River. ;)
Great!

Just gotta get through rest of December, then

Jan., Feb., Mar., and April can be kinda nice here. It's gonna be a long 3 months though! On a brighter note, after 12/21 days start getting longer again.

Possibly, but the other option was Mother's Day weekend.

Not too many BRPR attendees go to the Ga Mtn Rally, so .....

North Georgia Motorcycle Club
Tim,

FYI, the Georgia Mountain Rally by the BMWMOA of Georgia usually gets at least 600 attendees, the BRPR was 60-70, out of which, I can count 6 that attended the GMR. There may have been more, and I know of 2 more that were planning on the attending the BRPR for the first time this year, but, with the "conflict" I am not so sure now.

With the Mayhem V conflict also, have you done an informal check on how many are planning to attend this year, or is it too late to change the dates?

BTW....if I have to choose between the GMR and the BRPR it will be the BRPR rally since it is K-bike focused and a better crowd!

Got THAT right.

Miles on the BRP are like minutes in a football game. There's
no relation to the commonly accepted definition of the word
as you know it. :)

You can NOT make time on the BRP.

You CAN have a good time trying.

I guess everyone knows by now, but we have conflict. N GA rally is the same weekend as Peaks of Otter. Decisions, decisions.

It doesn't really matter when a rally is scheduled, there will ALWAYS be a conflict
with something else.
