Howdy Larry,

I have the BMW center stand and love it. I can't tell you anything about the SWMotech one, I had the BMW one included in the purchase and never went shopping.

BMW says their Center Stand won't touch down until the pegs do. I have scraped (lightly) the center stand when two-up and not had the pegs touch. This was only in low speed surface street cornering.

You can get the BMW centerstand from Chicago BMW for $140 - that includes the centerstand, mounting kit, and delivery.

I've heard you have to do some cutting in order to install the center stand. Has that been your experience?

Call them they are wonderful to work with ordered the CB antena for my LT from them great service to go with the price.

There is no cutting required for the R. Straight bolt on. The cutting you may be thinking of is for the S, and you have to cut some of the fairing. There is a line on the underside of the fairing that serves as a guide for the required S model cutout.
