Suggest you look into the K1200LT tank bag. I just put one on my S as a small around-town tank bag. $95 most dealers. On the S, all you need to do is take the two screws out of the plastic battery cover panel on top of the tank, center the bag in an appropriate location, punch two small holes in it and put two 5 x 20 screws in. Don't know if the R has similar construction. Works just fine for me; when I want more space, it just takes a couple of minutes to remove and put the large bag on. Hope this helps. Best, catman.

Products seem to be good quality and reasonably priced.Check them out. They make a good tail bag too, I think it's Summit.

cheers,

I second the Chicane Summit....I am not a fan of tank bags. The Summit is great! Holds everything I need and keeps its shape when empty! Looks great (almost like a rear cowling) and is priced great, especially when you consider the quality. The reflective piping is a huge bonus during night riding!

Whoa! Never seen that before. I might have to pic one up!

Anyway, I also recommend the Chicane stuff. Cheap, durable, functional. I have both the Canyon EX (expandable) and the Mesa tail bag. I liked them so much I went to a different BMW dealer than what I work for to get them.

Love the MV stuff, but darnit I wish there was a US retailer. The shipping would cost almost as much as the tank bag. (and, there's other items that interest me).
