So, I have a 2006 K1200GT, fairly new to me, only about 4K on it, but 45K on the clock. I was riding home from work when I started to hear a noise from the rear of the bike. I was going to change the final drive oil with my first tire change, but it decided to drain it for me. When I stopped there was sludge all over my rear brake rotor, meaning something failed. I haven't removed it yet, but am presuming I have to replace it. Can I use a final drive from any 06-08? It has the "non-changeable" design (I realize it can be changed), I'd love to go to a design that actually has a drain plug. Thanks for the help. Wasn't sure if the later final drives are compatible with the shaft drive.
