G'Day Locus mate

G'day to you Locus mate.
I don't know anything about the politics of the new site, but I do like the new formats and feel to the site. Well done to all you fellas making all this happen.
I've got my GT booked in for its 20000Km service next Wednesday. I was a bit concerned re the major service cost, but was advised by the tech that the brake recall can be done for free (of course) and this will lower that cost aspect of the service, as the recall work would be done with the major service anyway.
Any Aussies out there, I really am VERY impressed with the service from Townsville BMW.

Best wishes all.

Ken.
P.S, My 1922 Indian Powerplus (1000cc) outfit is currently in the back of a furniture van heading up here. Should get it on 25 Oct. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Now that will be an "opposite ends of the spectrum" riding experience after the GT!

Life in the Nth

G'day Pap.
How's things down South?
Yep, board has been updated. You can now get chips with your sanga!
Had a great feed at the Landing last week. It's beautiful up here this time of year (starting to get sticky and warm.)
Best wishes mate.

1922 indian

Keep a look out for a movie called

"The world's Fastest Indian" Starring Anthony Hopkins
that was released this week at the movies.

Tells the story of Burt Munro, Invercargill NZ who in 1926 purchased
a 1921 Indian.
Over the years he developed it to the point where in 1967 he set a land speed
record on it at bonneville. The record still stands today.

Worlds Fastest Indian and 20000KM Service Cost

Thanks Fleet.
Way ahead of you mate.
Us Indian owners have been waiting for the last year re the release date. Where did you see it released, as I thought it was to be March 06 in Oz, although they have already had a trial screening in ENZED.
There is a trailer available on the net to view, which looks great. Brilliant speed trial shots.
While I'm on line, just to advise the Melbourne and Sydney based K1200GT owners, that it looks like you all have been ripped off by your dealers re the 20000KM service.
Some of you have been paying over $800 AU, I just picked my bike up from Townsville BMW, and it cost me $440. Happy with that. (They also did the factory brake recall. No issues)

Best wishes everyone, from Nth QLD where the rain has just started, and I'm going out to stand in it for an hour or so!!!

I have just purchased a 2001 K1200RS and should be riding it up to Cairns in the next few weeks. I have a place in Kuranda and it would be a thought to get the bike serviced in Townsville as I doubt if the Cairns guys know much. I hope to catch up with friends in Townsville on the way through.

I will be leaving from Taree NSW (about a 2500KLM trip), and will try doing it in about 5 days - just done Philip Island and had no problem doing 800k on one day.

cheers

Townsville BMW Service

G'day Peter.
If it's any help, here is the number for Townsville BMW Service area: 07 47727255.
They get fairly buisy, so if you know when you will be coming through, give them a week or so notice.
Kuranda, lovely spot, but just too touristy now for me. I always head up that way during the wet season, so there's less people around.

Best wishes mate.
