Hi I'm getting a intermittent flicker of speedo needle when either in Neutral or in gear at idle - 1000rpm with bike stopped at junctions. It goes away if I raise the revs to 1300rpm.

Is this a known fault? If so what are the fixes is it a pcb as the local dealer has suggested?

I don't understand.

I don't know what you mean by flickering speedo needle? Does it bounce around? If so, how badly?

Mine did the same. Manhattan replaced it when I dropped by for a 6K. The new one is also doing it but not nearly as bad. At idle it would read up to 40mph.

I had the same problem when raining. Check the wiring at the pickup sensor on the rear and the conection point into the main loom. Next the speedo head terminals pick up lots of moisture (open at rear). I marked all the wires in my instrument head, removed each terminal and cleaned it, then replaced all the pilot bulbs whilst it was open.

I remember finding a way to test the system. I removed the pickup sensor and held it close to the side of the flutes of a large drill in my electric drill or you could use a toothed gear to do the same.

I have had intermitten reading from the speedo for couple of days after I rode in the rain.
It seems to be a regular problem for early K-bike instrument due to the moisture exposure of the electrics.
