I have always had problems getting proper fitting motorcycle boots. It seems that most quality boots are cut for skinny, sissy, European feet. My feet, of course, are shaped more like Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble, with a somewhat wide forefoot and low arch. Well, last week I broke the bank and ordered a pair of Frey Daytona Roadstar GTX riding boots. Although they are twice what I wanted to spend, I thought, "What the heck, I can always send them back if they don't fit and I'll only be out shipping costs." So, like I said, I ordered a pair.

I've always heard good things about the Frey Daytona line of boots, but have never seen or inspected a pair. I was impressed by the fact the U.S. distributor, Helimot, wanted a "tracing" of my foot (with socks on) in order to insure a proper foot. Apparently the good folks at Helimot match your foot outline to the proper boot last, which gives a near custom fit.

To make a long story short, my boots arrived today and I must say I am quite pleased, actually, almost ecstatic. For the first time ever, my motorcycle boots fit perfectly. My foot literally fell into place. Plenty of room in the toe area. Arch support is exactly where it should be. Heel is quite comfortable. Insole is very comfortable, with an abundance of support. It is obvious this will be an excellent "all day" boot, both on and off the bike.

In addition to the great fit, a close inspection of the boot reveals a quality made product. Compared to the many other boots I've owned and others that I have tried-on, the Frey Daytona boots are more like a work of art. Beautifully well made, with almost an overabundance of built-in protection. These boots look good whether you're in full riding attire or just wearing them around the house in only your underwear. Hell, I may just wear them to bed tonight. Despite the fact they are all leather and brand new, the boots are comfortable and feel almost "broken-in" right out of the box. Yes, that is good indication of a pair of well made boots.

Well, it appears these boots are a keeper, I've already bonded with them. Too late now....no turning back. Looks like it will be ketchup and saltine crackers around the OkeefenokeeJoe household for a few weeks, until I can pay off this intensely painful VISA bill, but hey....I've got some darn nice boots to wear in the meantime. That's my report.

Ya'll be careful out there.

For a pair of shoes!!

For that price, you better get a good blow job. I thought the girl from Sex in the City paid a lot for her shoes. But I guess you get what you pay for.

I have been looking into getting some boots, I think I will probably end up with either a pair from Sidi or Oxtar. Have to go try them on and see how they fit.
