Hello,

My weekend project is removing the front master cylinder, cleaning it up, replacing the piston with a new one and reassembly. Well, I have hit a snag. Everything came apart fine until it became time to remove the lever. The allen bolt that seems to serve as a pivot finally came loose but will not come all of the way out. I have turned it with some vicegrips while pulling but it will not come out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It really helps if you put the year and model either in your sig or in your post (like the title.)

Sounds like it's a 4 valve brake lever though. Try exerting some sideways pressure on an Allen wrench and pulling on it.

Be sure to check the wall of the master cylinder bore for pitting while you have things apart.

Okay, I got that bolt out. I had to grab the head of the bolt with a vicegrips and pound it with a hammer. Now I can't get the piston out. Do you have any advice on that? Thanks!
