As always, Rango puts on one helluva roundup!

Thanks to Rango and Cheryl for organizing one of the best community events of the year! The roads, the weather, the camaraderie, the food, the laughter. Extra special thanks to Rango and Cheryl for the burgers on Friday night. Thanks also to Ken and Diane Goode for the Brisket on Saturday night. It takes a lot of work getting food and fixins to Red River to feed 50 people.

Thanks to "The James Gang" for all the antics. You coulda sworn there was a gang war with multiple drive by shootings that weekend. Watching Barbara and Margaret scheming is half the fun of this event. I can't remember when I laughed so hard. Thanks go to James, Margaret, Wayne, and Barbara for creating all the laughter. I'll have to check my deoderant again, so maybe they'll actually stay at the same hotel as the rest of us next year.

The only question I have is if Rich remembers anything from Friday night? Something about James riding bitch and remembering Rich's first rule of pillion riding -- Don't toucha my balls! Visualize Rich riding his GT and James on the back (after picking up that bolt in his tire). Stop and go traffic in Taos. The two of them stop in front of a bar patio full of Harley riders. Rich and James turn to look and see the entire patio looking at them with the strangest expression. BTW, in Northern NM, there are lots of bikes with two guys riding together -- not that there's anything wrong with that.

The ride on Friday was great. Thanks to Sutton and Flowers for breaking the group into three parts. Leading 18 bikes through the moutains of NM is quite stressful for me. That 9 miles of new pavement on the old Taos highway was great. Deb asked, "how many road workers does it take to hold up a truck" as we passed the road crew of 40 doing nothing more than holding up a couple trucks with their asses. If they build roads as nice as that, they can lollygag around as much as they want. Let's hope the rest of the road is done by next year!!! As I said in my new GT review, that bike was built with roads like Northern NM in mind. The short ride on Saturday was fun as well. What's up with that narrow road (barely wide enough for a car) out of Mora that turns into nice wide new pavement up the hill and back into a really narrow road? I don't get it.

Our little group, David Scott, Jimbo & Sheryl Wilson, Stephen and Tricia Moore, Jim Sutton, Ruth and I had a great ride home. The ride started in Red River at 35 degrees and somehow on the other side of the moutain, the temp guage showed 28 degrees. 10 miles later, it was 50. And 50 never felt so good. We followed mkmpflugerville to I-25 where he must have stopped for gas. We met up with Russ in Clayton as he was pulling out of the parking lot. We caught back up with him on Boys Ranch Road on the way to Amarillo. Lost him again in Amarillo. Don't know if he pulled off, or gave up on trying to get around the Truck Drag Race that was happening onm I-40 through Amarillo. Under the leadership of Jim and Jimbo, we made good time. We made it home safe in 10 hours and 36 minutes, the weather was perfect (not nearly as hot as last year), and we're ready to do it again next year!

Thanks Rango!!! Let's do the RTE to Eddie's place sometime soon!

Mega dittos - it was a great weekend! It's tough to get back to reality...... Thanks for your great leadership as well - always a pleasure to ride wit' ya'll.
Here's a pic of Rich and Bitch (James) notice James' hands are about as far away from the "boys" as he could get them - not that there would be anything wrong with that, as you pointed out, Jeff! LOL! Also a pic of the bolt that brought them together - sigh. Brings a tear, doesn't it?

On to Torrey!
