What's the best mileage you have clocked? Anyone cruise the freeway around 55 for a whole tank of gas and figured out the mpg?

I routinely get in the 43-45 mpg range with no special attempt to get higher mileage. This is averaging about 52 mph in the twisties having fun, but not going nuts. On the track I got about 28 mpg. Best ever was close to 50 with steady freeway/highway for most of a tank, but at 70-75 actual mph. I do remember Sheep reporting he regularly got in the low 50 mpg range with his standard commute, but don't really know the specifics of the type of riding he did. I feel that IF I could hold it down to 55 on I-5 from Redding to Sac, I would easily get 55mpg or better, of course, that is if I survived the rest of the traffic doing 80.....

I get a very consistent 43 mpg with a mixture of highway and sideroads, mostly commuting, with moderately squidly acceleration. My best ever was 55 mpg with a tail wind for a whole day. I also burned a whole tank of gas on about 10 runs around a 2 mile track. Now that was some squidly riding (and also my only crash ever on this bike, on the last lap of the last run of the day -- know your limits!).

gas mileage

I have a best of 53 MPG.
This was on 395 south bound from Gardnerville NV to Bishop CA.
Too many HP so speed stayed at 65.
Normal is mid to high 40's.
All credit goes to the right hand.

Question for Robert W/or/Meese; where did you get the maps used on your posts?

Thanks
Roger

K1300S mileage

Averaged 45 mpg the first year and 12,000 miles. The second year yielded an average of 47 mpg over an additional 12,000 miles, with a high of 56.2 mpg cruising at 70+ mph. I consider that real good for a hyper-sport machine. I have driven it to as low as 37 mpg with very active play and triple digit speeds.

I ride a lot of freeway miles. My 11 K1300S has 7200 on it now and in a good week, I average 44.3 mpg. I can honestly say that I get my best milage if I can keep the bike at about 75 mph. If I drop down to the 65 mph, I don't gain any mpgs. Over 80 and it drops down to about the 42 mpg. Unfortunately, the CHP doesn't like us running at 75 mph. So you have to keep an eye out for them while trying to achieve the best mileage possible. I think I am still in break-in stage though... on my previous K1200S, I didn't get my best mileage until after 30K.

OK, I ride hard. K1200S with Akrapovic exhaust, K&N filter and Power Commander dyno tuned for power.
38 is normal for me with a real effort made to stay over 85 mph.

43 was my best, trapped behind one cop after another at 65 on a level freeway. I am pretty sure I will never know what I get at a constant 55 mph. If you find out I will not know whether to pity the experience or respect your restraint. :p

I rode a 2005 K1200S for almost 7 years.... I got similar mileage to you.. 40 was about the best I could get on a regular basis. I was surprised when I got my 2011 K1300S that I was able to get 10% better fuel economy on this bike with a bigger engine.
