What is a good (one that fits) oil filter wrench for the K1200RS?

Where can I get one?

I can find many that are close, but close only counts in horseshoes.

I'm looking at the full top cover wrench.

Thanks, CK

Assuming you are using an original BMW Oil-filter OR an Oil-Filter that is physically and technically (specs) equivalent, then you need a 14 flutes wrench having a diameter of 76 mm.

Most auto-parts wil have (or can get you) a LISLE Oil-Filter wrench part number 54760.

OR EVEN BETTER, if you are in need of a few spare Oil-filters at an acceptable price (much less than dealer price), then you can order a kit of 6 filters with washers + orings + filter wrench for $US$ 47 at BeemerBoneyard:

Or... just the wrench:

BeemerBoneYard always has top-notch service and sells many compatible or equivalent service parts for many BMW motorcycle models. The Bosh oil-filter they sells is not 100% the same as the original "in-the-box" from BMW dealer (made by MAHLE or MANN). However, it is a quality equivalent oil-filter that has been used by many "K brick-engine" users for many years (including me).

** P.S.: if you choose to go to auto-parts, I would suggest to remove the oil-filter cover and measure the hole opening (max diameter allowed) BEFORE you buy any wrench. I have seen 1 case where the tool number matches (54760), but the external diameter of the wrench would not slide in the hole opening. Of course, on cars this is not a problem as oil-filters are very rarely hidden inside a sump ...

I have the original BMW oil-filter wrench that fits / slide in pretty tight in the hole. HOWEVER I am not near garage right now to take measurements. Original BMW wrench is a bit expensive now, but I got mine much cheaper many years ago:

No more filter wrenches for me. I only buy filters with a nut built in. So much easier. HIFLO makes great and cheap oil filters, and the “racing” line has the nut on top.

BBY sells the Lisle 54760 wrench. And so do most Autoparts stores. There is also a KDTools branded one that is very similar to the Lisle.

Spec for them wrenches is 76mm x 14 flutes.

And there is a K&N branded wrench that will fit but a POS in my opinion.Fits but has to be tapped in with a hammer....!
