Just did it again in the wet and managed to be the first bike out. However !!!!!!

The local constabulery is well aware that an intercept is not possible on this road unless you have your flippers and snorkel with you....So... They zap you as you go past and then radio ahead.

Couple of white lines there also, so they may be using time over distance too.

Police report that the big problem on the weekend is writing tickets fast enough.

Great Ocean Road.

G'day Pap.
Obviously a VERY pretty road, but I hate riding it due to the amount of traffic.
In fact, last time I rode it was about 7 years ago on my 47 Chief (probably a bit more sedately that your last ride!) We use to live in a lovely house in Barwon Heads.
I do miss the roads in Victoria (and that's about it!) as I have the squarest tyres in the country due to 130kms up and down the Bruce Highway daily. Only 1 'S' bend on the whole trip, and then I usually get stuck behind a tractor or purple hair tourist, and have to take it at 50kph.

Best wishes mate.

Sure glad you are happy up there. I have many fond memories of laying in the yacht in December with the fan blowing over my wet hot clothes, (no cold water to be had even at 2am) Swimming off the Strand and deciding it was too hot in the water to swim. Too hot to ride. Too hot to sail. Too %$#@!^&*& hot to ......... ARE SHIT I GOTTA HAVE ONE EVEN IF IT IS ONLY 2PM. COLD WATER IS NOT DOING THE JOB. No wonder the mate named his boat ASDIP (another shitty day in paradise) I Love it down here. Weather especially, the food , the roads, anaything you want to buy we have it. Of course you never meet any Australians but the Freeway is one klick away and it is top gear straight out of the state. Ten minutes to the airport and a business class seat with a bottle or red for the price of two refills of petrol. Ohh my oh my I could go on. (ya usually do). It is Saturday morning, weather is great. Ride down to the yuppie part of town for the club morning coffee (they only have coffee cos they perv on the chicks you usually see on tv) Then a ride through the twisties for a light ale and ploughmans lunch at my favourite pub (favourite pub! What a statement. It has beer dont it) And as for you ??? I know where you live. I know the weather you are having (have to drive a truck there in a week or so) I know the limit the conditions place on your recreational pursuits. Hey ! Nephew must be doing okay with Aviation. Has his own plane on issue now. Bet he is glad he failed Victoria Police. His brother said he was a General but his brother lives on Black River Road just down from you, what would the drunk know about such things. I suspect Andrew is a Colonel. Hasta la vista

GOR Not so flash

Comming from Perth WA I'd heard heaps about the GOR from a fellow worker who originally comes from Victoria. I was therefore really looking forward to it when I rode from Torquay to Apollo Bay in mid January. However, I must say that I was a little on the disappointed side, particularly having just tripped around Tasmania where the roads are 'motorcycle heaven'. The quality of the GOR surface was not so flash and the amount of traffic was high (it was school holidays). The scenery was fantastic though.
Later my buddies and I did the Black Spur ride up by healsville - WOW. Now that was a FUNTASTIC ride.

Yep Charper- it is a bugger living on an island that is full of curves and undulations, and can be ridden around in 11.5 hours virtually non-stop.
