As of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a 2005 K1200S with a reported 29,000 miles. I have had many Japanese bikes, but this is my first BMW. I have yet to ride this bike as there are issues with the clutch. The engine runs smooth and strong (as far as I can tell) but the gears will not engage. The plan is to execute the necessary repairs and use this machine as my commuter bike. This bike has some road rash and there is evidence it had been laid down a couple times. I didn't buy it as a show piece. Just want a reasonably reliable scooter for running to and from the office. As time and money allow, I may address some of the cosmetics, but for now concentrating on getting it operational.

FWIW, my current steed is a 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere ES. This is my second Tenere. I sold my 2012 Tenere with 120K miles on it. It had more to go, but I couldn't pass up the deal on the 2014 plus I gained cruise control, heated grips and electronically adjustable suspension. With any luck, this K bike will absorb most of the commuter miles so I can keep my Tenere fresh for those LD trips.

Welcome. There are a lot of K1200S folks here with a wealth of knowledge, and who are always happy to offer advice and opinions. The clutch is one of their favorite subjects. Do a search to get an idea of the efforts so far.
