Hello all,

I know the International motorcycle show makes it's way around the country each year. I don't know what the schedule is. I was wondering if anyone knows when it comes to Cleveland Ohio. I thought it might be this weekend or next.

Thanks

Cleveland

You know I went to that show a few years ago and thought it was pretty lame. It had a bunch of Jap bikes and a few local dealers and a whole lot of cheap leather vendors. If they can't bring in the top of the line companies why have it. As I am thinking it was more like a swap meet. Being that BMW won't be there I guess I should stay home. There is however a nice BMW shop in Auroa Ohio, by where Sea World once was. I was there a few months back and it was worth the trip. It has only been open for a few months.

What makes you think they won't be there?

My son and I have gone to the Cleveland show every year for the last ten or so,
BMW has been there every time with a very large display. Last year for example,
they had TWO of the not yet released at the time K12S' on display.

It's a good show.

Well for one we are hearing that it conflicts with BMW"s schedule for another event. Second they do not appear on the Exhibitor List for Cleveland, but that list has not been updated for any information.

I was hoping someone had more substantial information than the rumor mill here.

BMW shows on the Cleveland floor plan (click here).

Two weirdisms emerged from looking into this ....

1- Cycle World is NOT listed as being at Daytona for Bike Week in March !!

2- BMW Events doesn't list a single event for 2006. Shame on them.

CABNFVR,

Yes I see BMW on the floor plan also. Did you notice that Triumph is missing? The info we have is from a local dealer who is stating that no one from BMW has contacted them to help out at the booth.

BMW is on the list for the Washington, DC, show, but others have also said the show is lame, so I think I'll go for a ride instead, and save my $13 for lunch.

I was nosing around the BMW site the other day and found info on the K1200RS and R1150RT. Talk about old stuff! I sent them a message and they replied that they were almost ready to unveil a new site. Maybe that's why it's getting stale.

And WRT the show, will KTM be there? They weren't last year in Chicago.

At the San Jose show, no Triumph and no KTM. My questions were responded with costs of these shows for the manufacturers being the number one issue. Apparently, too, BMW NA charges $100/bike sold by each participating dealer for the main booth, and the local dealers then have a place marked on the area map for their dealership, along with other small acknowledgements that the local dealerships exist.
It's also quite a different venue from the shows in Europe as well.

Bike show = consolidated advertising event.

RVs, boats, cars do it, too. The cars & mc's have gotten away with charging to enter... bonus for them, saves on rent.

Cynical bombast over... I decided to go and pay my $13 so I can look at hot chicks sitting on the new K12GT.
