The starter drive went out in my 92 K-100. The dealer charges $1,500 + parts to fix it. It's my fourth K bike and I love them. Can't afford the dealer so I'm fixing it myself. I've been working on bikes for a long time so it's not a big deal. Waiting on a manual that's taking forever. My Question is "What direction does the 30mm flywheel nut losen? " :)

The big nut on the clutch carrier? I should call it that, no flywheel per se on them bikes. That's a regular threaded nut that one, no left hand threads there.

I found the Haynes manual online a couple years back, free and a reasonably good copy. I think it is also on CarlSalter site, just google that name could take you there but no guarantee that the copy is good, you may not see anything on the pics.

Thanks

Thanks. As engineered as the K- bike is, I thought it minght be a Leftie. Man what a rotten place to put the starter drive.
