Any opinions on preferred years for a K1200GT ? I am riding a 2003 with 26k miles on it. She is running well.

I am thinking of adding another GT or similar to repair and work on. Maybe for me or another family to use. I see several out there low price probably due to repair costs. Not sure what years are better.

Thanks for your review.

This particular K1200GT having the longitudinal "brick-engine" was produced only between 2003-2005. These K1200GT are are all the same except for Color and the Motronic-ECU that was revised in 2004-2005 (no added power, just internal fine tuning and bug fixes).

However, this K1200GT being just a second generation K1200RS with added options (heated seat, electric windshield, added pieces to fairing...), you may also look for a 2002-2005 K1200RS if you are willing to accept the missing options / features specific to a K1200GT.

NOTE that later K1200GT that came out in 2006-2007 are VERY DIFFERENT with a different engine (frontal 4 cylinders).

I have had two. They are great bikes. I have traveled around town and across the country on them, Never had a problem on the road, just had to repair that pesky rear shaft seal.
There is an 04 project K1200GT bike at Bob's BMW in Jessup MD that is reasonable.
