If bike runs normally and everything works could be a defunct accessory.

You could try looking in the Motorrad manual on CD.

Are you the original owner? If not could be a add on from PO.
Tape it off and leave it. One day you will discover what it is and possibly use it.

If I was to guess, someone has bought the plug to attach to the accessory/GPS plug that is in that general area, in front of the battery. The plug comes with three wires, to which the put on their own plug (for whatever accessory they had), which is in your hand.
Take off the battery compartment cover and see if the wire goes down to a round plug just under the crosspiece at the front of the compartment. If so, there's your answer.

Alternatively, they cut the existing plug off and put on their own one.

Yes, it is the OEM accessory plug. It has switched power and something to do about GPS. Tape it up and leave it there. You may want to use it to power a future GPS or other accessory.
