I can answer your first question...


The Speedo get its speed-signal from the Central ABS Unit..so this would not be a problem or need of recalibrations

There's a guy that works at BMW of Atlanta that has apparently done it.. I'd suggest you call him if you are serious... and then post what you find... I'm curious..

Sure hope you have a few $'s spare - from Bobby Wooldridge Jr, BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta. "Re-gearing the rear was a complete housing swap right down to the wheel speed sensor. BMW NA does not have the necessary tools yet to service the new final drives, which means swapping out the whole rear end and thats probably the most cost effective regardless."

Is there any gain noticeable to a mortal by doing this? The magazine quarter mile times have been negligible between the R and the S from what I've seen so far. I'm not nay-saying the idea, I'm just asking. I have trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground in the first 2 gears as it is.
