I own a 2006 K1200S with 20,000 km on it.Condition is excellent.New tyres, panniers and tank bag.20,000 km service completed.
Am a bit concerned about the trade in values I am getting!
Spoke to another interstate dealer today and BMW is making an announcment on Wednesday 5/11/08.Concern is that it may be a marketing plan (price reduction) for K1200S to make room for the K1300S.
Anyone heard any stories on the grapevine?
cheers Andrew

Im not sure about price reductions but no doubt they will get some factory assistance to move old stock.
They will probably end up trading quite a few K1200's in all forms traded on the new 1300's and dont want to get caught with too many heavy trade ins.
I reckon if you wanted to get the best return on any K1200 you missed the boat when they announced the 1300.
Im about to find out too.
Are you prepared to tell us what your getting offered?

K1200S values

Story is the retail value is $21,000 to $22,000 and the wholesale is $18,000 to $19,000.The margin would have to cover the warranty etc.If you go to www.bikepoint.com.au they have 15 K1200S for sale and www.bikesales.com.au has 14 for sale. Some of the prices are crazy ie very low for some of the 2005 models.Think one was down to $15,000 OUCH !
Maybe just keep it and convince myself that the K1300S is no better?

Hi Andrew,
Save your money and get a power commander111 for your k12s its unbelievable what a difference it makes to rid-ability (just like a new bike) smooth as silk no flat spots no hesitations and pull from 40 K's in top gear no problem!

By the way how did you go with your gearbox,
I'm starting to have issues with my front suspension again, Brad from moto one was looking into me getting it checked out again when he informed me i would have to take it back to Southbank to get it looked at for obvious reasons, so I'm a bit hesitant on getting them to look at it with all the trouble I've had with them in the past,
have you been in there since Chris Busch... has moved on to BMW head office.

Cheers Craig

K1200s

OK Craig fine on the power commander, have not every really thought of doing something like that.I usually find if you complain about something to BMW the first thing they ask is does it have a pipe?or simular!Allways looking for an out.I did not have any problems with my gear box except it is very clunky 1/2 sometimes to 3rd.Before the K1200S had a R1200GS and it had a fantastic gearbox sooth as silk.
I am allways in Southbank.Live in Horsham but everytime I am in Melbourne seem to visit nearly every day.Think they are getting sick of me.Love that place, allways joke that they should give me a job as the cleaner or something!
Should be in Melbourne again in December so may catch you at Southbank.
Also had some bad news on a trade in on the K1300S...maybe 12 to 15!Gets worse everytime I ask!Think I will keep it.
cheers Andrew
