Hi Everyone,

I just joined the forum and have been lurking for some time. I thought I'd pose this question to get some thoughts before my dealer answers me...

The bikes an 03 GT with about 7800 miles on it. Rides, runs, sounds great, except...

When stopped in Neutral with the clutch released a thudding occurs which I can hear and feel through the engine covers and frame. Pull in the clutch, no sound, no thud.

Bikes shifts fine, clutch takeup is great, no slippage, no gear popping, nada...

Thoughts?

It's probably the often quoted "clutch sounds like a box of rocks" sound. This is a normal BMW sound.
You might want to change the trans. and rear drive gear oil as preventative maintance.

Thanks! My k75 was so much quiter then this machine that it is taking a bit of getting used to... To refernce the k75 tranny always felt like my 74 opel basically the whole gear box was clunky (and false netral prone) but it was bullet proof!

Again, much thanks for the quick replies!

I think all the noises are amplified, not muffled by the full lower plastic when compared to the older model K's.

clunk

The noise will probably be a little spacer moving up and down on a shaft in the box. Mechanic said to me "Here come and have a look at one so you will stop worrying" He then tuned the bike making it almost disappear.

I have the same issue on my 2010 k1300r (56k kilometers), like a handful of sand on bearings when the bike is on neutral and clutch is released, i think its quite normal of the gearbox, beacause when i'm riding everithing fine no strange noise at all.

Anyone knows about that issue, or experience this issue before a mechanical failure??
Thanks
