Ive owned a few K12RS', my 02 leaked and I took the trans out and replaced the seal with the viton seal, fixed the leak.
SO.... my question is ..... I now have an 04, last year for production, and I am wondering if BMW fixed, or put an updated seal in place by 04 and fixed the problem ???? I am able to do this job myself, just would not be looking forward to doing it for a damn 3.00 seal !!! again...
Let me know what you all think on this ???
Thanks

Ditto. I got 100,000 kms on my 2004 K1200 GT before the rear main trannie seal died. Can't really tell when, but if you ride far enough it'll eventually go. Some people get far less than me, and one or two have got more. Just keep an eye out for the dreaded oil leak at the housing joints, and grin and bear it. For what its worth, my view is that the clutch is only good for 120,000 kms max anyway, so doing the clutch and seals at 100,000 kms is not the end of the world (but it sure hurts the bank balance, or your riding time if you do it yourself).
