Hi all
I’ve just acquired a 2009 k1300S that has been in a slow speed slide. Only damage is hole in fairing and small scrape on bar ends, headlight fairing. When I put key in to start bike the mileage, the clock, the headlight and rear light is the only thing that comes on. The bike does still start but no clock lights, ignition lights, tacho.
The bike is alarmed fyi.
Does anyone have any idea what may be the cause ?
Cheers

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes than reconnect it. See if the lights come back. Let us know....

The speedo has a light sensor.....
If you turn the key and its bright outside you won't get any background lights in the intstrument cluster.
No speed signal? Check the rear cable going into the final drive. Any damage will cause the sensor to not pass any information to the Instrument cluster.
Alternatively, the instrument panel might have gotten a hit.....
Best option would be to have the bikes ZFE,ABS,BMSK,and INSTRUMENT cluster read out. That Is the quickest way to find out if there is a fault in the instrument cluster or a break in the cable from the ABS/Speed sensor....

And no horn or indicators?

Thats a ZFE module error.... anything switchable by the rider is going through the ZFE.

Thanks for replies guys, I do appreciate it. I disconnected battery for over 24 hours with no change. There’s no ignition lights, background clock lights, indicators, horn, etc. The only things that work are the front and rear headlight when ignition is turned on.
The alarm doesn’t seem to be doing anything either except for the red led on the dash.
The bike drop was on the left hand side and the left fairing took most of the damage so that would explain the Zfe module getting damaged. I’ve looked at it but there is no obvious sign of damage.
Looks like gambling on a replacement or paying probably more for bmw to diagnose.
Decisions, decisions !

Ps
If I replace the zfe module will I need to either change keys or get them reprogrammed in to the ecu ?

Generally speaking, all ZFE's are the same...... but......
A ZFE module is coded with options that are either switched "On" or "Off".
For example: Alarm system.
If its coded "off" and its installed then it won't work until the ZFE is coded to be "ON".
Other things that can be messed up by buying a used ZFE is the fuel level. A ZFE from a K1300gt has a different fuel level coding (larger tank).
The ZFE has nothing to do with the encrypted key..... that is stored in the BMSK-P (engine controller)

That’s great. Thank you. I think I can get my hands on a 2011 k1300s one and mine is 2009 so hopefully it will sort it.

Just to follow up on problem. After excellent advice off patrique83,
I replaced the zfe module this morning and everything’s workings perfectly.
Thank you so much. I am one happy man. 👍👍👍.
I can get on and sort other minor issues
