Yes, me again regarding the water pump seal.

I chalked up my first attempt to doing something wrong even though I can't figure out what that would be. So I tried again.

Still a leak from the weep hole, actually a steady drip.

I followed all the published procedures to the letter ensuring that the seal was not damaged when installing. The pump shaft has no pitting and shows no wear.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Do I need to buy the BMW installation tool?

Is there a heat-cycle need for the seal to seat?

Suggestions? I'm running out of options and don't want to keep putting in seals.

Paul Glaves reported a 50% success rate on his pump rebuild attempts. Based on that, I took my pump to a trusted dealer mechanic and he did the work and I installed the pump. The trick is finding a mechanic that is proficient in doing the pumps.
