Perhaps something has changed since the last time the question was posed some time ago. Please tell us about some gadget you just couldn't live without. It could be something that we might all know about... or something quite obscure that will enlighten the masses.

Thanks in advance.

i carry a 15 dollar Walmart bicycle cable lock. With it I can lock the helmets ( without using the crappy under seat lock),jackets, back pack, tank bag, etc to the bike. even use it to lock the bike to something! often I will lock all gear on it and run it thru the wheel to make it harder to steal the bike.

HID Headlight -- at a minimum, a low-beam HID.

Damp microfiber cloth to wipe bugs off helmet shield. Microfiber doesn't scratch. I carry it in a Ziploc in my tankbag. I can clean my shield during a stoplight.

lol,, i'm still thinking about the "cheap" comment. Yup i can be cheap, but its because I may not have the money to go first class. But, what else would do the same job as my Walmart bike lock cable? sure I could put System cases on for 1100 bucks and not exceed 80mph as per manual. Or simple carry all my gear everywhere I go. Its not the best answer I know, and if someone wants to steal what I have the only answer is a device from Colt or Smith and Wesson. I'm open to other ideas, what do the rest of you do with your gear when you leave the bike for lunch or to go in the stores?

I am not sure why the "sad" comment, but, it IS sad that we have to protect our gear in that way. I too will either carry it or lock it using a cable lock if I am not in site of my bike. There have been a few exceptions and, luckily nothing was stolen.

Society has "forced" many of us to be somewhat paranoid. Once I was in a sandwich shop with my convertible top down. I had left a magazine on my passenger seat. After finishing lunch, I was in the bathroom at the rear (no rear exit) and the window was opened so I heard someone outside standing by my car commenting about the magazine and the neat article it had on the cover. Didn't think much about it. Finished up, went outside and the damned magazine was gone!

Sheesh! The things people do!

So, I agree with your choice, cheap or not!

Items that are important

I carry a cycle pump and tire gauge all the time. K's work best with correct tire pressure.

I ride alot so my garmin 2610 GPS has saved alot of extra miles, especially in a traffic jam. It takes me right to where ever I'm going. No wrong turns

A micro cloth. These things are worth their weight in gold. No scratches on face shield.

PIAA lights while driving are probably the most important. Others can see you better. Won't leave home without them on, and they help out especially at night. Much better visibility.

Turn Lights. No not turn signals. I love to ride at night (NOT) can't see a damn thing. start to go fast into a turn lay the bike over and NO LIGHTS for where you are going.
Turn Lights come on for left or right turns when the bike lays over far enough and you can SEE.

Gadget

The item I can not live without at this time is a horn that people are able to hear. In ATL traffic every day this is very important. Second is a set of PIAA 1100 especially going into the winter........

Hope the leg is healing well!
