The gearbox oil change is one of the easiest procedures on this bike, but the first time I've done it, I had oil all over the centerstand and on the floor as well.

Next time I had to do it, I found a "no mess" (or Swiffer Wet) solution :) that works for me, so I thought I'd share it and here is a few pictures for your viewing pleasure

Another Method...

After a warm up ride, I run my bike up into a front wheel chock. Leaving the side stand and center stand in the up position, access to the gearbox drain is unrestricted and the used gear oil drains cleanly into a large or small pan positioned below.

I've found that the bike is stable enough so that even while loosening the gearbox drain plug, the bike doesn't end up in my lap. :teeth

Or you could just use the side stand pull the plug with pan underneath it and then just stand the bike up to drain it
