I noticed the odometer and trip meter have stopped working. The speedo and tach work as well as all the other gauges. I did notice at the very top of the instrument panel the plastic has melted between the speedo and tach. Has anyone experienced this problem? My bike is an 03 K12GT with 15K on it.

The only change I made to the bike lately was to add led lights to the rear fender for more visibility. I hooked the lights directly to my tail light.

I have ordered a replacement instrument cluster from BoneYard, but before I install it anything I should be looking for?

Speedo & Odo on your later bike are driven by wheel pulses from the ABS ring. Assuming no ABS warnings show, I would trace the wiring picking up the pulses and up to the Speedo head.

From memory, I can't think of anything up that high. All the lamps and the clock module are lower down, unless you have had a short/fire inside the speedo head.

Hi Mike: I have the same problem with my 04 GT, melting plastic between the [top] speedo and tach plus odometer not working. Did you ever find the problem. I'm considering buying a used cluster as well. Thanks, Mark

Don't hook anything up to the rear taillights circuit. Remove that now and find another power source. The ABS can screw up if just a tail light bulb goes out.
