Checked my bike over after my last ride this weekend. Notice a small amount of oil around a bolt on the front of the engine where the pan meets the block. Front of engine being the side facing forward since transeverse engine orientation. Is this indicative of a blown seal somewhere on the engine? any advice appreciated.

Sounds like the typical front cover leak. No gasket between the front cover (covers cam gears , crank end and cam chain) and the engine. Use a good gasekt maker like Permatex 51813 anaerobic or 599BR Ultra grey. They will keep you sealed for years.
Its a 4 hour job for the average mechanic as radiators , timing components and all 3 covers come off. Its a great time to do the valves.

Have fun -

JDGT is correct. I believe this is one of the biggest glitches with this engine. I think just about everyone experiences it in some form. It won't go away by just tightening bolts up. She's a leaker if not done correctly.
